aches and pains

Ironman training comes with some level of physical discomfort. The trick is knowing when to stop training. I haven't quite figured this out yet. Right now for example, I'm working through 3 things: my left foot is sore every morning when I wake up (what's up with that?), my left hamstring continues to be sore and tight after any type of fast running; and my right knee has started to act up when I'm biking. So I'm 9 weeks from Kona, and I have to make sure I don't make any of these things worse, but I'm not so sure that any of them are bad enough to stop training for. Certainly my foot and hamstring have been a problem for several months and haven't really stopped me (slowed me down a tad maybe). I'll have to keep tabs on my knee. Riding into work today, it was sore about 50% of the time (i.e. going up hill). I stretched my quads an such at work before I came home and only felt it a couple of times on my way home (which is actually more hilly). So, I plan to do my long run tomorrow morning and I hope everything holds together. I'm going to skip my Thursday bike ride and hopefully do a century on Saturday - we'll see.
